Twice Canary Films set out to make two short films in a day, and this is the first one out of the editing process. I'm particularly proud of the music at the climax. My contributions were:
This was 2020's entry for Idaho's h48 film festival. My brother, Jared Waters, was writer and director, and I got to play a villain for once. This is by far the best looking film I've been a part of, with the cinematography credit going to Daniel Klamerus. For the score, I took much influence from Mongolian music, and used hand drums, morin khuur, and throat singing for the composition. My contributions were:
This film was produced as part as the Idaho 13 Stories Film Festival, where they were allowed to film at the historic Old Idaho Penitentiary. This was the first film where I was on composing duty only, and it was a great learning experience to come into a project after it was filmed and see how I could add to it. My contributions were:
This was the first (and hopefully not the last) Idaho h48 film festival I was a part of. I loved working with Daniel Klamerus, the director. My brother starred as the villain, and won an award. I spent about four hours with my hands tied above my head, which made me appreciate the ordeals actors must go through.
The Visage is the first entry in a yearly tradition amongst my friends to celebrate the Halloween holiday. We were quite inspired by the film "A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night" by Ana Lily Amirpour, hence the rabid black and white. Though amateur, this project provided a wonderful learning experience and I'm quite proud of some of the stills (particularly the one here).
Man VS Wind began in 2007 as a slapstick web series that only saw two entries. As a learning experience, Cory Atkins and I set out to create a longer piece using elements of the original. A particular pleasure was filming in Eastern Idaho.
